OPEN
This is a song written when I first writing songs for Stylusboy. It's about looking at what might happen next, trying opportunities when you are given them, pushing the doors. It is also about life's questions; Where does the sadness or the tears go? Where does time go when you have so much to get done? What are you meant to do next? Sometimes I just wish someone would open the door and pull me through, rather than me having to decide which door to open and whether or not I should walk through it.

There's one thing that I need to know
Like where do all my tears go?
You lean upon my shoulder
And wipe them carefully away

But the clouds roll on by
Revealing the sunshine

There's one thing that I need to know
Like where do all my days go?
So many things to do and say
My never ending pencilled list

But the clouds roll on by
Revealing the sunshine

Open the door
Pull me to the inside, pull me to the inside
Open the door
Pull me to the inside, pull me in this time.

There's one thing that I need to know
Like where’s my life meant to go?
Moving this way, moving that.
One step forwards, two steps back.

But the clouds roll on by
Revealing the sunshine

Open the door
Pull me to the inside, pull me to the inside
Open the door
Pull me to the inside, pull me to the inside
Open the door
Pull me to the inside, pull me in this time

Jigsaw
I wrote this song after I walked past a jigsaw that had been dropped on the floor outside my local chip shop. It got me thinking about the idea of a jigsaw being a bit like the pieces of your life. So I asked lots of questions about the pieces of the jigsaw. Some people store the pieces of their jigsaw carefully and don't share them with anyone else. What is it that makes your jigsaw complete? Is it not complete? Are you missing something? Do you know what is missing?

Are your pieces hidden away?
Up on shelf gathering dust
Are your pieces scattered all around?
Under the chair, in the plant pot
Are you pieces laid out for all to see?
The outline is there with a missing piece

Your make my jigsaw so complete
A site to behold
Beautiful
Your make my jigsaw so complete
A sight to behold
Beautiful

Her delicate pieces placed so carefully
Always correct and so direct
His small pieces spread out on the floor
They're just colour coded with no clear picture.
Someone's pieces spilled out on the floor
Lost this day or meant that way?

Your make my jigsaw so complete
A sight to behold
Beautiful
Your make my jigsaw so complete
A sight to behold
Beautiful

Are your pieces beautiful?
Are your pieces beautiful?
Are your pieces beautiful?
Are your pieces beautiful?

Stopclock
This is written about waiting for my son Noah to be born and holding him in my arms for the first time. I have a little girl called Evie and so the chorus is me thinking about what it was going to be like with two children! Towards the end of the song the chorus line changes and I say how amazing it is.

I'm pacing the room
Walking the minutes of this day away
My patience is wearing
So thin on the ground
I'll just have to wait.

This isn't going to be so easy
This isn't going to be so easy

The day has moved on
The light turning grey then into the night
You open your eyes
And without a sound
You speak so clearly

This isn't going to be so easy
This isn't going to be so easy

And now that you're here
You sleep through the stars and the moon in the sky
Making me see

This might just be so easy and lovely
This might just be so easy and perfect

Back to the Start
I used to be a band and one day I had a look at loads of photos and videos from the time in that band. It is about remembering those good times and kind of wishing that I was still with the band. At the same time knowing that there was reason why it ended, but what is going to happen next? The idea could be used to represent any situation from the past that you might wish you could go back and do again, but actually you know that it is for the best that it ended when it did.

I'm sitting, I'm watching
I'm starring and I'm dreaming
Remembering all the good times.
I'm looking back into the past
And I'm starring at my own face
Singing along with the good tunes

Come on lead me now
Back to the start
Come on lead me now
Back to where it all began
Come on lead me now
Back to the start
Back to the start

I'm hanging onto a thread
Of something that I kind of regret
The moments past, its time to move on
Stop, hang on old man
There's a reason why it all began
We might pick up where we left off.

I've got something to say to you.
Will you be there now?
I've got something to say to you.

Come on lead me now
Back to the start
Come on lead me now
Back to where it all began
Come on lead me now
Back to the start
Back to the start

Roses and Love Hearts
This song is about my lovely lady wife. It is a simple love song. It is the simple things that make me love her.

It's three AM and I can't sleep
Twisting around you sleep next to me.
With a warm embrace you said goodnight
Wrap myself around you again

Speak the words
All my love

Something simple
Something simple
Something simple
Once again

Silver bands bring back memories
Life is not all about roses and love hearts

Speak the words
All my love

Something simple
Something simple
Something simple
Once again

A Song for Noah
The title says it all really. It is a song for Noah, my little boy. It is about wondering what he might become and wanting the best for him. Knowing that I would do anything for him. I wrote it pretty quickly one evening sat on the kitchen floor while i was playing some older songs before a gig.

Every time I look at you big blue eyes
I see a light that's burning oh so bright
I pray it lasts until you leave home
There's not rush cause I'm not letting go

Open up those big blue eyes
Stare at me so I know
I see a life full of hope
Don't let go don't let it fall away

Hold my hand
And I'll show you the way
Hold my hand
And I'll guide you along the way

Every time I I look upon those eyes
I say thanks for your life
Wipe the tears from those eyes
It's alright cause I'm not letting go

Hold my hand
And I'll show you the way
Hold my hand
And I'll guide you along the way
I'll guide you along the way
I'll guide you along the way
I'll guide you along the way
