The new single ‘Fourteen Days’ from Stylusboy.
Hailing from Coventry, Singer-Songwriter Steve Jones (performing as critically acclaimed Stylusboy), creates wonderful Indie Folk music with heartfelt lyrics and warm-hearted melodies.
“Fourteen Days” is the first single to be taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Back in the Day’ and will be released worldwide on 5th May 2023.
The song is inspired by an amazing man called John who is 102 years old. John is blind and unable to walk anymore however his story is a hard-hitting one of survival and this song tells his story of being shot down behind enemy lines in World War 2 and how he survived for 14 days on wild fruit and veg before getting back to safety. Ironically, when he finally made it back, they thought he was a spy and then nearly shot him!
‘Fourteen Days’ is the first song from a project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Steve worked on in 2022 with the Coventry-based charity GoodNeighbours who support lonely and isolated over 50’s. Steve met with 6 of these people and created a song based on their memories of life.
The song was recorded at Steve’s home studio, The Truffle Room and will be released on Tortoise Recordings. This very special song sees Stylusboy develop his ‘lo-fi indie folk’ sound to incorporate more synths and beats alongside guitars, bass and vocals, all played by Steve himself. The track also features gorgeous harmonies from singer-songwriter Alva Leigh.
