Blogged : My January 2022

February 2, 2022

It’s been a while since I really focused on blogging but I am going to make an effort in 2022 to share at least a monthly post about what I get up to each month. I am writing these as much for myself as they are for you to read, they are a bit like my own personal diary so I hope you enjoy reading them with me.

January started with a visit to Coventry Foodbank to drop off some donations. Part of the work I do outside of music is helping to collect food to be given out to the people who need it.

I managed to do 3 good runs in January including one glorious occasion in a local woods on a frosty morning. Halfway around I had to stop to take some photos so I could capture how beautiful it was. Another aim in 2022 is to run a bit more, for various reasons I didn’t run that much in 2021 but I am hoping to change that this year.

My Dad is one of the main people who really got me into music and he has got so many CDs he sometimes buys ones he has already got! He got 3 John Smith albums from eBay and then realised just that, he’d already got them so he offered them to me. Thanks Dad. As with every John Smith album, they are so good!! One of the live ones includes a track where the electric guitar lead breaks, it is very funny!

I have spent some sorting out and clearing up my Studio room which was much overdue. I have moved my audio interface, mic preamp and effects units down on my desk (they were on a shelf above) and with an old wooden board, I have made them much neater and a better workspace. I have done this to make my recording process smoother and also for my live streaming setup to be simpler. I am planning some livestreams in a few week’s time.

As I was sorting out my studio space I came across a number of my old art pieces from when I was taking my Fine Art degree many years ago. This print I created by printing the inside of a leather football!

I have taken a few trips/visits too. I took a trip into Coventry city centre for some work with City of Culture via Bean and Leaf Coffee who serve the best cakes and coffee. I walked up a hill in Malvern which was very good for my soul and finally, I went to see Ghosts in the Ruins at Coventry Cathedral which was incredibly moving.

Sadly January ended with testing positive for Covid which is very annoying having dodged it for this whole time. However, I am not feeling too bad so far so I am very grateful for that.

January – A good start to 2022.
