This has been such a special project for me to work on over the last 18 months. When I started working with Coventry charity Good Neighbours I didn’t really know how the songs would turn out. Meeting the 6 people and hearing their stories and memories was really poignant for me. Writing the songs was a big but also very exciting challenge as I really wanted to honour these amazing people and also create pieces of music that I loved.
I made a very conscious decision to use a different approach to making the recordings sound a different to my previous work and I have loved exploring the electronic beats and synths I have included. Working mainly on my own in my own studio was a really good experience for me and it allowed the recordings to really develop naturally. I am so pleased with the songs and how they have turned out and I hope you enjoy listening to them.
This project has been a real privilege to work; meeting so many inspiring people, creating a collection of songs I am delighted with and have making my own CDs again. I haven’t had loads of Spotify plays (yet!) or sold shed loads of CDs but for me that isn’t always a sign that my music is successful. I wanted to say a genuine thank you to you for supporting me and my music, it means a lot that you are on my mailing list and care about what I am making.
