A candle lit allotment gig…

September 5, 2011

Last Friday I played a very special and unusual little gig on an allotment that was lit by candles and camping light.

When I first offered out the idea of ‘House Shows’ Marian got in touch and said she would love to host one but her house was too small. She then asked me if I might come and play on her allotment and of course I agreed! After lots of emails and tweets we finally managed to set a date. Marian invited the guests, sorted drinks and food and even borrowed battery powered fairy lights to light up her green beans! Not something you see every day.

So on the evening I drove over to the allotment but of course allotments are not generally sign posted and so it did prove rather tricky to find! After a quick call the Marian it was all fine and I arrived just as it was getting dark. I had brought Laura with me who was going to film some of the songs, however this was quite tricky in the diminishing of light. Thankfully for the last couple of songs we used a camping light and the video worked really well. It was a really enjoyable gig where I got to play to lots of differtent people, particually people who may not head out to live music that often. I sold quite a few EPs and chatted to people and now more plans are in place to other shows.

I was given more amazing fresh green beans which I have now made a lovely green pesto spaghetti with! Thanks alot to Marian for hosting such a lovely gig and to Laura for making such a cool little video. I hope you like it…
