FOUR THINGS I HAVE LIKED THIS WEEK – 9.3.12 (featuring @atlumschema, @Lukeleighfield, toast and cake!)

March 12, 2012

Apologies for the delay in posting this. Life has been pretty busy but here is my four likes from last week

1. ATLUM SCHEMA’S NEW SINGLE IS A MASK…
My good friend Andy Mort (http://www.atlumschema.com) has released a wonderful new single called ‘Empire of the Soul’ as a mask! A “Mask?” I hear you say, yes a mask. Andy is one of the most creative and inventive musicians that I know so I am always excited when he comes up with a new idea! ‘Empire of the Soul’ is one of the songs he played at Greenbelt Festival last summer when I played bass in his band and it is really interesting song lyrically. Here is Andy explaining the mask. It is a ace…

2. TOAST AND BUTTER.
Is there anything as lovely as fresh hot toast with full on butter? Hmmm, I am sure there are a few things but it does taste lovely. I am trying to eat less bread at the moment but I am a sucker for fresh toast in the mornings!

3. CAKE AND TEA AT BROWNS…

Last Saturday I met one of my best buds, Darren, for a drink and catch up at Browns Cafe Bar in Coventry. We spent a lovely evening discussing the future, our families and putting the world to rights. Browns make amazing cake as you can see from my Instagram photo!

 4. LUKE LEIGHFIELD’S DOCUMENTARY FILM…
Luke Leighfield is a independent musician who has just released his new album ‘New Season’. It is a great collection of piano rock, think Ben Folds or other great American rock bands. Along with the album Luke has also made (along with the talents of Duncan Howsley)a feature film length documentary about how he made the the album. What I really like about about this film is how you get an inside view about the process of the songs came about and how they were constructed in the studio. It is really high quality and the filming and production are wonderful. Do check out the film and the album NEW SEASON.
