MAKING THE LANTERN VIDEO

Making the video for Lantern was a game of two halves (as they say!) because Barry Fitzgerald (Irish poet and film maker extraordinaire – CRE8TIVEDAY.COM) directed and filmed the mini figure footage first. We then decided that it would be great to include some footage of us performing the song.

The idea for the mini figures came after I was inspired by the work of artist Slinkachu.  I attempted to make the video myself during the summer but it just didn’t work, so I decided to get in touch with Barry and discussed the idea with him. I gave him the mini figures and he got on with the shoot. We were thrilled with what he produced for us.

It was an interesting experience to shoot the performance sections of the video. We agreed to film around Coventry Cathedral, which happened to be very close to where we shot the promo shots. Barry filmed us a number of time singing the song while cars drove by and a few people walked past looking at us strangely! Barry used the most enormous tripod to hold the camera which folded down into a tiny bag! It was an impressive piece piece of machinery!

It was good fun, if a little chilly, but in around an hour we had enough footage for the video. Here are some photos and the finished video:
