On New Year’s Eve I played at Ego Restaurant and Bar in Lichfield. I played there last year and it was great fun and great way to see in the new year. I was joined by Tim on drums and Rach on vocals. We had a couple of rehearsals to work out songs as we were going to do all my songs and my groovy covers. We arrived nice and early to set things up. Rach had got some sparkly lights to make out playing area look at Christmasy, ahhh! You can see from the photo above how cool it looked. So we played our first set and people enjoyed it. Tim added in some great backing vocals and three part harmonies sounded great, even better considering most of the harmonies were unrehearsed! haha
Anyway we had some lovely food and drinks before our second set. I had a goats cheese tart with rocket and water cress salad (Yes I am a veggie!) which was amazing. The others had lamb and fish, they said it was lovely too. Our second set worked well too, we included our covers of You got the Love, Starry Eyed and Fight for this Love which went reallt well. I gave out a number of cds to people and chatted to a few people too. Then it was time for pudding! Well… I had a gorgeous chocolate tart and Tim had a lemon cheese cake, with the sharpest lemon sauce in history. His face was a complete picture!!!
Our final set included some classic tunes like Son of a Preacher and Lonley this Christmas which maybe I will record next Christmas as I was really pleased with how they sounded. We also did a fun version of Jingle Bells which was really folky. I watched BBC2’s Folk Christmas a few weeks ago and that finished with a fabulous version of Jingle Bells, so we did our own version! I will definately be recording it next Christmas.
After midnight it was the big pack up and drive home. I was proper tired, it had been a great night but hard work! Thanks to Graham for booking us! Happy New year everyone!
