I am very excited to announce that my brand new single ‘Fourteen Days’ will be released on 5th May 2023 on all major digital platforms.
The song is inspired by an amazing man called John who is 102 years old. John is blind and unable to walk anymore; however, his story is a hard-hitting one of survival and this song tells his story of being shot down behind enemy lines in World War 2 and how he survived for 14 days on wild fruit and veg before getting back to safety. Ironically, when he finally made it back, they thought he was a spy and then nearly shot him!
‘Fourteen Days’ is the first song from a project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, which I worked on in 2022 with the Coventry based charity Good Neighbours who support lonely and isolated over 50s. I met with 6 lovely people and created each one of them a song based on their memories of life.
I have recorded the song in my home studio, The Truffle Room and it will be released on my own label, Tortoise Recordings. I have really enjoyed developing my sound on this track, playing all instruments (vocals, guitars, bass, synths and beats) myself. My lovely friend and awesome singer-songwriter Alva Leigh, has recorded harmonies from her home in America.
