I am very pleased to tell you that I have now put up both of my upcoming releases up to pre order on BANDCAMP. Christmas Light EP is a five track EP with two original songs and three traditional Christmas songs that I have given my own spin. The first track on the EP, Christmas Time, I have written with my nine year old daughter ‘Minnie Stylus’. She has written the lyrics and we worked on the music together. She is singing the song with me which is very cool, my son ‘Mini Stylusboy’ is also singing some backing vocals towards the end of the song! The final track ‘Christmas Light’ is an another co-written track, this time with my wife Bec. We wrote this song a while ago and wanted to put it out this Christmas. Bec plays some wonderful piano on the Christmas love song (and sings backing vocals throughout the EP). You can watch the video for the song on RIGHT CHORD MUSIC who premiered it exclusively on Friday.
I have, as I have with many of my releases, created a handmade sleeve. This one is even more special than usual. Each sleeve has four Christmas trees which are individually cut from pages of atlas. The track ‘Christmas Light’ makes lyrical references to ‘giving you all world’ and so this is where the idea of using maps came from. The atlas features in the video for the song too. Christmas Light EP is released on 11th December through WILD SOUND RECORDINGS. You can download it from all online stores and also order it in all good Record Shops in the UK through Proper Music. However, the best place is direct from my BANDCAMP page.
My second release on 11th December is a collection of nine (well ten – there is a free secret track) live songs recorded at K:Fest back in July earlier this year – Tales from Home : Live at The Manor House. It features songs from my earlier releases as well as three brand new songs all recorded completely live late on a Friday night in the Library of a huge manor house in the heart of Derbyshire. K:Fest is MISTER’S KEITH annual summer house party and July was the second time I have played this wonderful event. The artwork for this one features another handmade sleeve. This time the sleeve features an individual ‘home’ which I have cut from a story book (it is actually Little Red Riding Hood!). The idea with this artwork is that the songs are recorded in a library and lots of my songs are inspired by home, it was also recorded in a manor house so for me the whole thing tied together really nicely. As with Christmas Light EP the best place to buy this album is from my BANDCAMP page.
Handmade sleeves take me alot of effort and time but I love making them and the fact that every single copy of both of these releases is unique makes them even more special. I really enjoy the fact that each one of you who buys a CD will have a special object that I have created for you.
Thanks for reading,
