NEWS UPDATE : A FREE SONG FOR THE BLITZ

November 13, 2015

Hello folks,

On November 16th it will be 75 years since The Blitz in Coventry during World War II. I have lived in Coventry all my life and often think about the lives of people at that time. I have written a song called ‘For the Souls of My Brothers’ about my Great Grandad who was a Fireman in the Coventry Blitz. Once particular night he stayed at home to finish his dinner which meant he didn’t go out on duty with the rest of his crew. Sadly on that night his crew never returned home. This song is about that event.

I have decided to release this live recording of the song for one week as a way to commemorate 75 years since the Coventry Blitz. This recording is taken from my new live ‘Tales from Home : Live at the Manor House’ which comes out on 11th December.

You can download it for free from my BANDCAMP shop by clicking on the link below.

I hope you enjoy

S

The morning light was filled with fire
And he felt the courage in the air
His wife called him in the backyard
‘Darling I have something awful to tell’

He sat down on his old wooden chair
She held his hand and looked him in the eye
‘Darling, what is that you need to tell?’
Well the sadness in her eyes, well it broke his heart

Your boys have gone
Your boys have gone

For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again
For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again
I can see the whites in the my childs’ eyes
And the sun rise again
For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again

He looked out on those Cathedral spires
Well his guilt and grace for company
He scream, ‘that should, that should have been me’
I could’ve saved them, I could’ve saved, I could’ve save them

My boys have gone
My boys have gone

For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again
For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again
I can see the whites in the my childs’ eyes
And the sun rise again
For the souls of my brothers I can leave home
I can leave home again
