Coventry City of Culture 2021/2022

I am excited to have been selected as part of the second cohort in the Community Connectors programme by Coventry City of Culture 2021, supported by the National Lottery and 64 Million Artists. Alongside nine other community creatives, I will be running my own creative project and receiving training.

My project is with Good Neighbours who support isolated and lonely over 50s across Coventry by pairing them with volunteer befrienders. I will be visiting some of the people in the Cheylesmore area of Coventry to hear some of their life stories and experiences.  I am then using this inspiration to create a collection of brand new songs. The songs will be shared at a unique and intimate event at the end of April 2022 with a specially invited audience. I am really excited about visiting these wonderful people and creating these songs to share the love of music and to bring together the community after an incredibly challenging two years. I have always been inspired to write songs about personal experiences. For the Souls of My Brothers, from my last album Routes, was inspired by my Great Grandad who was a fireman in the Coventry Blitz in World War 2. 

I will be blogging about my progress here on my website and sharing the songs as they progress with my Handmade Music Club on Ko-Fi.
