A couple of weeks ago we held the Lantern EP launch show in Coventry which was a lovely event and one of our favourites so far this year.

The weather at the moment is following the rest of the uk with a glorious heat wave. This is brilliant for BBQs and chilling but very warm for live shows! We headed out to Playwrights in Coventry at 6pm. It is a lovely venue right in the heart of Coventry and just around the corner from where we did the recent photo shoot. As we drove there the realisation of the possible parking difficulty struck me! There were road works and also very limited parking in this section of Coventry. Thankfully we found the perfect spot very close to the venue. Phew!

After unloading our gear we set about moving around tables and getting the venue ready. After a good soundcheck we set up Ryan’s sound. Ryan (https://soundcloud.com/ryan-francis-martin) was opening the show for us. It was great to finally meet him having chatted online for the last few months. PLAYWRIGHTS was lovely even though it was very warm! We couldn’t open any of the windows as its an old building and most of the windows didn’t open! We set up the merchandise table and got everything ready. The individually hand drawn eps looked amazing.

At around 7pm people started arriving and by 8pm the venue was lovely and full. It was an intimate space and a big thank you to everyone for moving around each other carefully! If you were there you will understand what I mean! After another half an hour Ryan started his set which was brilliant. His songs are quiet downbeat folk, which he usually plays with a band, but tonight it was just him and his guitarist. It was just lovely. Here is one of his songs:

At 9pm we took to the stage and thoroughly enjoyed our set. People listened intently and we felt very proud to share a number of songs from our album. Lantern received a very humbling round of applause and whoops! Every time I see people at our live shows singing along to our songs it takes me by surprise, it really is very heart warming to see. Here is Lantern from the show:

After our set the audience purchased lots of Lantern Eps and we signed many of the them. It was a perfect way to launch the Ep. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, particularly those that traveled a distance specifically to come along. It means a great deal to us. Here are a few more photos from the night. Thank you!
